At Christ Church, we will respond to the damages in the Florida Panhandle due to Hurricane Michael and in the Carolinas due to Hurricane Florence. Our main, immediate response to disaster relief is through the work of our denominational relief agency, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). For more information on ways to pray, give and go, see below!
Pray for the families that have been affected by the storm, including those that have lost property and family members.
Pray for the leadership of UMCOR and their preparation for a response.
Pray for all agencies, both Christian and government, that will respond to those in crisis over the next few weeks.
Pray for the local churches in these areas as they shepherd and lead their congregations through this season.
Pray for the teams that are already on the ground serving in response to the storm.
Give directly online to UMCOR: In addition, all financial donations to Christ Church that are marked “UMCOR” will be sent directly to the organization to help disaster relief efforts.
THANK YOU for your generosity as every flood bucket was scooped up and returned promptly. Those supplies are already on their way to the Florida Panhandle, and the blankets, diapers and gift cards you’ve brought in will be delivered to our partner churches there as well. There’s another opportunity to help with hurricane relief by providing encouragement and emotional support to a family as they rebuild their lives in the wake of this devastating disaster. If you, your Sunday school class or small group would like to know more, contact Stephanie Powell to get signed up.
While we currently do not have a trip planned to respond to the storms, we are seeking out those who would be interested in participating or leading a team to respond. If you have any interest in responding short-term to the needs caused by these storms, please fill out the form by clicking on this button.
