Disaster Relief

At Christ Church, we are prayerfully watching the approaching storm of Hurricane Florence, and preparing for a response as needed to support those affected by this storm. Our main immediate response to disaster relief is through the work of our denominational relief agency, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). For more information on ways to pray, give, and go, see below!

  • Pray that the storm will lessen in strength as it approaches the coast.

  • Pray for the safe travels of those evacuating in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, as well as the safety and preparation efforts of those that are remaining.

  • Pray for the leadership of UMCOR and their preparation for a response.

  • Pray for all agencies, both Christian and that of our government, that will be responding to those in crisis over the next few weeks.

  • Pray for the local churches in these areas as they shepherd and lead their congregation through this season.

  1. Give directly online to UMCOR. In addition, all financial donations to Christ Church that are marked “UMCOR” will be sent directly to the organization to help disaster relief efforts.

  2. Collect Supplies for a Cleaning Bucket. By clicking this link, one can get the full list of cleaning supplies that UMCOR will use to clean up areas affected by the storm.

While we currently do not have a trip planned to respond to the storm, we are seeking out those that would be interested in participating or leading a team to respond. If you have any interest in responding short-term to the needs caused by this storm, please fill out the form by clicking on this button.
