Disaster Relief

While we currently do not have a trip planned to respond to the flooding from Hurricane Harvey or the effects of Hurricane Irma, we are currently building teams that would be willing to go. If you have any interest in responding short-term to the needs caused by this storm, please fill out the form below.

  1. Chapelwood UMC, a church in Houston that we already have a relationship with, is beginning the work of collaborating with other pastors on the ground in the city to have a strategic approach. View their full hurricane guide here. Chapelwood sent out a prayer guide specifically for the response. Their pastoral staff wrote this, & it's a great way to let Scripture guide you in response to the storms.
  2. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the overall body conducting disaster relief work. View their full guide here. UMCOR is asking for prayers for: those whose lives have been impacted by the storm, early Response Teams, Disaster Relief Coordinators, and the Texas Annual, Louisiana, Rio Texas & Central Conferences of the UMC as they work with UMCOR.
  3. First United Methodist of Waco Texas has developed a family devotional to use while putting together UMCOR supply kits. Their devotion is available for your family to use here.

Both organizations have direct donation abilities:

  1. Chapelwood: Set your donation as one time marked "Disaster Relief"
  2. UMCOR
