Bob Whitsitt, executive director of serving & outreach
Bob Whitsitt recently shared with us that he is going to transition from a full-time staff member back to a lay leader at Christ Church. Bob has faithfully served as our Executive Director of Serving & Outreach the last six plus years.
During this time, Bob has introduced the concept of champions for local and international ministry partners and most recently has helped us develop the global/local (glocal) mission strategy. Essentially, when we go overseas to work with a people group, we also connect with them locally. As Bob reminds us, the nations are represented here in Memphis.
"With 200,000+ internationals and some 70+ language groups in the greater Memphis area, God is giving us an incredible opportunity to live out Leviticus 19:33-34," Bob said. "God has grown my heart for the nations right here in Memphis!"
Bob's heart for the nations has led him to start a new nonprofit in the city that trains and equips refugees and members of the international community with foundational construction skills that they can use to gain full-time employment.
Bob and Laura will continue to be faithful lay leaders at Christ Church and look forward to serving as champions for causes and ministries they're personally passionate about.
