family Serve Opportunity: trunk or treat

Thursday, Oct. 31 | 6-7:30 p.m. (volunteers: 5 p.m.) | East Ministry Center
Christ Church is encouraging families to commit to serving others together. Too often busyness pulls families apart, and our Family Serve opportunities want to bring them together. Trunk or Treat volunteers are needed to decorate their trunk and pass out candy as a family at the EMC. Contact Pearl Holland to sign up or for more details.

No Wednesday Night Activities: Enjoy Fall Break!
Since many of our families are traveling, regular Wednesday night activities will be cancelled at 4488 Poplar and the East Ministry Center on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Enjoy time with your family and friends!

Workbook of Living Prayer with Dr. Maxie Dunnam

Sundays thru Oct. 27 | 5 p.m. | Seabrook Hall
Make the experience of prayer come alive as Maxie teaches us how to pray in a simple, practical way. “Prayer is one of the ways we link ourselves with God, we put ourselves in the channel of God’s moving power and we participate with God in ministry to all persons,” Maxie said. “I am convinced that this is one of the most glorious privileges given to Christians.” Take up this personal journey to grow closer to God through the mystery and power of prayer.

Candy in the Courtyard
Sunday, Oct. 27 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Courtyard

Kids and adults are invited to wear church-appropriate costumes and join us for food, games, bouncies, face painting, photo booth and candy. We’re collecting canned food items for the Mid-South Food Bank. Attendees are encouraged to bring one can per child.

We need candy! It can be dropped off in the nursery or at the Seabrook Hall Welcome Center. Volunteers are also needed to help with games and booths. Contact Pam Hudsmith if you'd like to help.

Alive! Children’s Choir Practice
Sundays | 12:30-1:30 p.m. | Wilson/Ross 407

Alive! Choir is an opportunity for children in kindergarten-5th grade to prepare their hearts for lifelong worship through music. Children will participate in fun Christmas and Easter programs as well as singing in the 9:45 and 11:00 worship services.

School of the Rock
Wednesdays thru Nov. 20 | 6-7:30 p.m.
Check-in opens at 5:45 p.m.

This free-to-the-public arts camp is open to all Pre-K (4 years old)-5th grade students. Children explore how to use art, drama, technology and athletics to tell their story and their part in God's bigger story.

Middle School & High School Refuge
Wednesdays | 5:45-7:30 p.m. | Rogers Center for Youth Ministry

MS and HS Refuge meet together every Wednesday. The first Wednesday of the month is BIG – we offer a special dinner (Food Trucks, etc.) that students can buy, along with games. On the remaining Wednesdays, meal rotates each week and costs $3 for dinner and a drink.

Young Adults

Weekly Small Group

UMW Baby Shower

United Methodist Women (UMW) hosts quarterly diaper/wipe baby showers for expectant mothers in our church. Bring diapers or wipes or just come by to visit and love on these soon-to-be-mamas. SALT Luncheon with Geoff Calkins

Our Senior Adult Ministry is excited to welcome Geoff Calkins, Sports Columnist at The Daily Memphian and host of The Geoff Calkins Show on 92.9 FM ESPN, as he discusses The Birth and Year One of The Daily Memphian. Optional lunch follows at Noon.


Grief Support

Grief Support Group
Wednesdays | 9:30-11 a.m. or 5:30-7 p.m. | Dunnam 337

This 13-week support group is for those grieving the loss of a loved one and includes video seminar and group discussion. No registration; just show up! Workbooks are $15; pay by cash or check when you come to the meeting. Questions? Contact Leigh Anne Murray, (901) 261-2106.
