70th Anniversary: A Letter from Rev. Dr. Bill Bouknight
Gloria and I praise God for allowing us to be part of Christ Church for thirteen years—1994-2007. During those years Christ Church had to decide whether to liberalize along with the United Methodist Church or to chart a different, more biblically faithful direction. Thankfully the church chose to be faithful to Scripture and to the gospel.
Some memories stand out for us: the interdenominational Easter Sunrise Service at the Pyramid; Pauline Hord's saintly wisdom; Maxie Dunnam returning to preach every year on the Sunday after Easter; Jon Michael Fisher stepping into the middle aisle of the sanctuary to lead the choir as they sang the Hallelujah Chorus; and Anita Jones, my incomparable assistant and co-minister.
Gloria and I are still living in the glow of the Christ Church fellowship.
Congratulations on 70 great years of faithfulness for the Kingdom of God. We pray that for you the best is yet to be.
In His love,
Bill Bouknight
