What is the Relationship Between the Christ Methodist Mission, Our New Goals & Our Brand New Logo?

Christ Methodist Church is embracing a bold five-year vision — gathering in embodied worship while being sent on mission locally and globally. Discover how we’re pursuing revival, making disciples, and planting churches from Memphis to the nations.

As a way of reminder, here are our goals as a faith family over the next five years:

  • 100% of congregation engaged in daily worship through prayer and Bible reading.

  • 100 members involved in ongoing, intentional discipling of one or more persons.

  • 100% of congregation engaged in a small group within the church

  • 100% of congregation engaged in service with one or more CMC ministry partners

  • 20% of congregation engaged in ministry teams.

  • 30 new organic churches planted with a focus in North Africa and Asia.

  • To see increased participation in weekly worship gatherings.

  • To have a fully developed strategic plan for church planting in North America by the end of May 2026.

The center of the logo represents the gathering of the church. The open lanes leading from the center of the logo represent the sending of the church. As followers of Jesus, we have intentional rhythms that characterize our lives. We are a people who gather, and we are a people who are sent

The Church Gathered

Christianity is an embodied religion. God came to us in a body. We gather weekly to worship in person because Christianity is practiced by bringing your full self (body, mind, heart, and will) to worship with other Christians who bring their full self (embodied self) to worship God. In fact, as Christians embody the presence of Christ, they are referred to as the Body of Christ under the headship of Jesus. Gathering “in person” is also the only way to practice the “one-anothers” the Bible commands. We are taught in Scripture to never neglect gathering with one another regularly as Christ’s Body.*

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

The church gathers in an embodied manner to share in its highest moment each sabbath through the worship and magnification of God.  Most of what we do in life is temporal, but worship is eternal.

“When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun” See Isaiah 6; Revelation 4

And so, the center of the new Christ Methodist logo represents our commitment to gather in person each week to glorify God in worship.

*Thus, there is no such thing as online worship. Jesus' followers are taught to gather in person with other believers in an embodied fashion. While we broadcast Christ Methodist services and teachings on YouTube and other media, this is made available for shut-ins, caregivers, members who are traveling, or persons desiring to engage in the study of the Scriptures from around the world. Our broadcasts are not produced as substitutes for gathering with the Body of Christ.

The Church Sent

Christianity is not just a religion of gathering; Christianity is a religion of sending.

Jesus said to His followers in John 20:21, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

Jesus said in John 17:18, “As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.”

Jesus' commissioning His church as a sent people permeates His teaching and can be found in Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 24:46-49; Acts 1:8, and Mark 16:15.

We have a goal to mobilize God’s people through 100% of the congregation engaged in service with one or more CMC ministry partnersThese partners will be represented at the ministry booths at our Ministry Fair on Sunday, September 28.  As a sent people, Jesus sends us out locally and globally to glorify God and make disciples of all peoples, as we serve the poor, the oppressed, and the marginalized, spreading scriptural holiness in our city and to the nations for the spiritual awakening of all.

The open lanes emanating from the center of the new Christ Methodist logo represent the sending out of the people of God as salt and light in mission to Memphis, our nation, and to the nations for the glory of God. Thus, we are both a gathered and a sent community as Jesus’ people!
